About this course
Asbestos exposure is highly toxic. This means that any employee who may encounter asbestos or asbestos containing materials (ACMs) in their workplace needs to be aware of safe working practices.
The course can be useful for plasterers, heating engineers, construction workers, general maintenance workers, carpenters, and anyone who could come into contact with asbestos.

The Control of Asbestos
The Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012; dutyholders and their responsibilities; managing asbestos in non-domestic premises; asbestos surveys; risk assessments; plans of work; training; and the Approved Code of Practice (ACOP).
Discovery and Disturbance of Asbestos and ACM.
Dangers of asbestos and friability; safety measures for working with asbestos; what to do if someone discovers asbestos and if someone accidentally disturbs or damages asbestos; and emergency procedures.
Exposure to Asbestos and Health Risks
Asbestos-related diseases, including Mesothelioma and Asbestosis; how smoking worsens the effects of asbestos-related illnesses; health surveillance; workplace exposure limits (WELs); and personal protective equipment (PPE).
